Day 9
This morning I had a mission. Making seaweed soup. Many times I had a chance to make seaweed soup on my mother's birthday but all the time I woke up late and I missed the chance. No need to say how much I felt sorry to my mom and myself.
So, this morning I got out of bed like a soldier and directly head into the kitchen and started cooking. I looked up the recipe on Youtube to make delicious seaweed soup. Making seaweed soup is not easy. Until now, I made seaweed soup and was not quite satisfied with the taste.
I struggled for a while making seaweed soup in early morning. To make delicious seaweed soup, the soup should be boiled long enough, for about 40 mins. I barely completed making seaweek soup on time at about 7 am when my mom usually eats breakfast.
What was the result? The best soup I've ever made. I don't know what exactly made it succsseful. Mom gave me a compliment saying it was the same taste with what she had after she had given birth to me. At that time, she said, the seaweed soup was so delicious that she could forget all the pain.
I'm writing the recipe so that I won't forget.
- Beef chunk should be soaked in cold water and keep in the fridge for a while to get rid of unnecessary floaters.
- After cold washing of the beef, put some cooking wine to get rid of the bad smell of the beef.
- Soak the dried seaweed. Use strong seaweed, not soft won, which makes it more chewy and taste better. We can get this at traditional market.
- At first, cook the sliced beef on the pan with one and a half spoon of seasame oil with medium-strong heat. If the heat is strong, the beef becoms strong, not soft.
- Put the chopped seaweed and mix with beef in the frying pot.
- Do the seasoning. Two spoons of soup soy-sauce and two spoons of fish sauce(tuna).
- Pour water and boil for about 20 mins, with peeled off onion in. (Onion makes soup taste more perfect.)
- Take out the onion. Put minced garlic and season with baked salt.
- Boil another 20 mins.
Maybe the secret of the recipe is putting the onion when boiling. I hope this is not the luck of the beginners but rather seaweek soup will be in my favorite cooking list. Cooking time is a bit longer that soy-bean soup but it is worth. Seaweed is also healthy meterial. It cleanse the bood. Many doctors eat seaweed soup often.
Cooking is quite fulfilling job. It can give energy, satisfaction, thankfulness, and even courage to live again. It is worth to learn and strife for achieve the skill. Who knows? You will save someone very special to you by serving the delicious meal.
